Jesus Green Participatory Photography Project

Home Life, Where Do You Think You Live?

Is a photographic documentation project, a celebration of the residents who live and work on the Jesus Green estate, showing it as it is now – its interiors, objects and most importantly, its people. The project aims to create a future archive, a book and an exhibition of the photographs taken.

In October 2014 the photograph of Betty and Jackie above was selected and shown in ‘ARCHIVE: Imagining the East End’, an exhibition at the Cass in Whitechapel showcasing a diverse range of photographers including Don McCullin and Tom Hunter, all of whose work relates to The East End of London.

In June 2018 I re-launched the project with an exhibition at Shipton Street Gallery and in October the photo of Flossie (first photo in the second row below) was selected for inclusion in

East London’s Photomonth exhibition at theprintspace on Kingsland Road, and in March 2019 it was shown as part of Woman’s History Month at Dalston Library.

Your help is needed with this project

My aim is to photograph as many of the residents and houses on the estate as possible, and so if you have not already taken part then I would like to photograph you. It doesn’t matter if you are a home owner or rent short or long-term, as long as you are happy to invite me into you home to take a photograph of you in a room of your choice.

If you are interested in participating in my project, or would like further information, please get in touch, I would be extremely happy to hear from you.
