Local Coronavirus Response

There’s plenty being done in the Jesus Green neighbourhood to support people during the Coronavirus pandemic (Covid-19). We wanted to point people towards local resources and groups working together, and also provide some pointers to general information.

People in need

A number of JHERA residents are making time to help. For further information, contact Carol, Sean, or Alex using this email: [email protected].

Volunteering

JHERA: Again, contact JHERA residents Carol, Sean, or Alex at [email protected] if you’d like to offer help.

Neighbourhood: There is also a larger community effort being run by a number of the local neighbourhood associations and the volunteer organisation Covid-19 Mutual Aid. There’s an online form to fill in, if you can spare the time to help. Go here.

Tower Hamlets: The council have a webpage with information about how you can help. Go here.

  1. hello – new message from Sabi about re-opening hours for Mak’s News – perhaps this could be added to the list above?

MAKs News (Joe’s) will be reopening from Monday 6th April from 7am-11am every day.
We hope to have all of your staples and favourites back in stock. When coming to the shop, please observe social distancing measures to help keep us all safe. If there is anything in particular you need, please let us know in advance and we can try and source this for you. Looking forward to seeing you all again soon.

  2. A couple of additions to the Food & Drink list:

Hackney Essentials Pop Up in Columbia Rd
    https://hackneyessentials.com/

The Grocery, 52-56 Kingsland Rd, London E2 8DP
Now open for online shopping and for delivery by bike, or collection at their doorstep
    http://www.thegroceryshop.co.uk

And a couple of plaudits from me for
    – the Nelson’s Sunday lunch – I’ve had the veggie option – delicious! – but the meat roasts are reported very good too
    – Hackney City Farm – bread (very good organic seedy sourdough) and cakes (choc brownie, lemon polenta etc) from Frizzante – but only available on Tues, Thurs and Fri for collection from 4pm (to 6pm) and best to pre-order on [email protected]. Could also phone Eddie on 7729 6381.
