JHERA has defined standards for our online community. The committee will remove content or comments that comes to our attention when we find it falls into one of the following categories:
- Illegal Content
- Hate speech and Hateful Content
- Inciting violence
- Graphic sexual content
- Harmful Misleading Content
The JHERA website is not moderated and we rely on our members to report this content to us.
In accordance with the constitution, we will consider suspension from the website community for violations. The constitution states:
In the event that any Member is in substantial breach of any important part of the Constitution, or behaves in such a way as to substantially undermine the conduct of the Association’s business or reputation, or acts offensively towards other Members, they may be expelled from a Meeting or event, and/or have their membership terminated or suspended on whatever terms the Committee thinks fit, by a majority of the Committee Members present. Notification of suspension or termination must be given in writing to the Member as soon as is reasonable thereafter
1. Illegal Content
We are of course bound by the laws in the countries we are active in. Reported content that violates the law will be removed.
2. Hate Speech and Hateful Content
We remove content that come to our attention when we find it to directly attack or discriminate against people based on their:
- Race
- Ethnicity
- National origin
- Religious affiliation
- Sexual orientation
- Sex, gender, or gender identity, or
- Serious disabilities or diseases
We also remove content which directly or indirectly promotes hatred or discrimination against the groups listed above. Additionally, we will remove reported content that supports, advocates or promotes such discrimination, or is abusive or aggressive.
3. Violent Content
We will remove content that comes to our attention when it incites violence or is offensive, defamatory or threatening to victims of attacks, catastrophes or crimes.
4. Graphic Sexual Content
We will remove content that comes to our attention when we find that it contains graphic sexual content, pornography and obscenity, especially regarding minors. We may also restrict the display and visibility of certain sexual content at our discretion.
5. Harmful Misleading Content
We will remove content that comes to our attention when we find that it conveys an inflammatory, misleading or misinformative message that we see as harmful to public health or safety, or an individual’s public standing. We will also remove reported content that supports, advocates or promotes groups and their ideas that we find to be harmful and misleading.
6. Liveable Streets
This topic continues to be very divisive in our community. As a result the committee has somewhat regretfully taken the decision that all discussion of Liveable Streets will no longer be allowed on the forum.
We will remove content that comes to our attention that mentions Liveable Streets, as soon as is reasonably possible. This includes, but is not restricted to, links to other information, factual details, council information, questions, opinion and any other comment.Â
To let the committee know about a post, please email [email protected] with a link to the post. We would also ask people to refrain from commenting on the post, even to point out that it should be removed.
As we understand it, there are many other forums where people can discuss or campaign on this issue, and we would encourage anyone who wishes to continue the debate to seek those out.
