On 18th January, Tower Hamlets‘ Place Shaping team officially ended the public consultation on the “Draft Conservation Area Addendums and Draft Mansard Roof Guidance Note”.
The documents are still available to view here. Particularly relevant for JHERA are the “Jesus Hospital Conservation Area Addendum” (PDF) and the “Mansard Roof guidelines” (PDF). The long and short of it is the scope for rear extensions on the estate has been made clearer and that in all but a few cases (e.g. the houses on the Northern side of Columbia Road) applications for mansard roof extensions will not be granted permission. Importantly, these are both still draft documents so they may well be changed.
The Place shaping Team say the outcome to the consultation will be made available here, although they don’t offer an indication of when.
